Where Will You Be Five Years From Today?

260 Weeks, 1825 Days, 2,333,000 Minutes. Put another way, where do you see yourself 5 years from now? Project Manager, Accountant, Lawyer, Property Investor, Teacher, Doctor or Nurse. The key question I’d like to ask is, will you still be trading your time for money or will you be enjoying quality time with more than enough money?

It’s your time, it’s your life, what are you going to do with it? What could you do in 5 years? The answer depends on what you do today, tomorrow, next week, next month and all year. Five years is long enough to accomplish almost any goal you might have, however ambitious. Will you finally get around to writing your book, travelling the world or set up your own business secure in the knowledge that your retirement fund is no longer a problem?

You can go on living how you’re living right now, no one is going to stop you from living a mediocre life. No one is going to come along and change your life for you. The only way you’ll be where you want to be in five years, is to start now, today. This precise moment is the opportunity you have for change.

A question often asked when looking to step out of your comfort zone and into your desired future is, what is your WHY? For those of you who are more grounded, you might consider What For? The answer will come from a deeper understanding.

I recently asked myself that very same question and my answer was - to spend more quality time with my family (children and grandchildren) be able to support them where necessary, leaving a legacy that engenders a love bond which cannot be broken and withstands the test of time.

So, if you’re anything like me and truly believe that there’s more to life than just working to pay bills and dreading the arrival of Monday morning. “Don’t count the days, make the days count” Muhammad Ali. Use today as the first day of the rest of your life, dream and dream big understanding that if your dream doesn’t scare you, it’s not big enough.

It has been said that “a goal without a plan is just a wish and the only place success comes before work is in the dictionary.”
