What if you were able to design your ideal
Christmas, what would that look like? Take a moment to ponder on that thought
and then begin to design that whole experience in detail. Where would you be, who would you be
with and what would you be doing?
Now let's be honest, were you self-indulgent? Was
it all about you? Did you include family and friends? And did you think about
the bigger picture?
Now if you're fortunate enough to be able to
indulge yourself and have much of what you desire, I encourage you to be
grateful and spend a thought for the many who are less fortunate.
Believe it or not, there will be people who will be
seriously challenged over this festive season with things like homelessness,
depression, suicidal thoughts, anxiety, resentment, anger, jealousy,
loneliness, little or no money and the consequences if not checked will be
devastating.
Take a moment to recall a time when you were not at
your best, feeling low or just despairing because in that moment you felt that
there was no way out.
Who did you turn to for help if at all? How did you
manage? Have you been able to turn things around? You see we're living in a
disposable society where if you're not fit for purpose you can be easily
replaced at a drop of a hat and that's scary.
Take some time to be someone’s answer to a prayer
this Christmas. Whether that be a financial blessing, helping pay for someone’s
shopping at the till when they come up short. Spending time with an elder who
finds themselves alone, helping out at your local church or charity, or simply
just giving up some of your time to a worthy cause.
