Change your attitude, change your life. Imagine holding a cup of coffee, you take your first sip and realise it’s not hot. At that moment someone inadvertently bumps into you, causing you to spill it. How would you react? Now let’s replace the coffee with a glass of your favourite tipple. Let’s replay the same scenario. Is there a difference as to how you react? And if so why?
Life has a way of providing you with opportunities
for change, however, it’s how you respond to
them and the attitude that you present at that moment that defines your
character and ultimately the quality of your life.
The only environment you have control of is your internal one, so how you interpret situations will determine their outcome. Too often when pressure is applied the instinctive response will be to relieve the pressure. In doing so many are forced into making irrational decisions which inevitably carry a heavy burden and a lot of regrets.
Managing your feelings and emotions in these situations will pay major dividends to your quality of life. Understand you always have a choice of how you are going to respond to what the world throws at you. Don’t allow an experience that was meant to be temporary to become a permanent negative fixture in your life.
You need to look within yourself and realise that you have the power to make things happen. Use today to start filling your cup with gratitude, mindfulness, forgiveness, joy, kindness, understanding, gentleness and love. In doing so you will inevitably attract the same. Put another way you reap what you sew.
