Identity and Self Worth
Self-worth…The sense of one's own value or worth as a person.
Identity…The individual characteristics by which a person is recognised.
Often times in life we find ourselves conforming to much of what we say is not really who we are, or what we’re about. We have good intentions about what we’re going to do. However, for a variety of reasons, we often struggle to get round to doing it.
We end up stuck in the process of trying to figure out why we don’t do the things that we say we want to do for ourselves. We then question whether we truly value ourselves and the person we have become.
Questions like….Why don’t I have a better diet; Get more rest; Spend more quality time on myself; Have a better job; Finish the projects I start; Have a better relationship with my partner; Say yes when I mean no; Earn what I believe I'm worth; Express how I feel when I am dishonoured; Sabotage my dreams? The list of questions goes on…..
If you find that you are asking one or more of these questions, maybe it’s time for you to do a stock take on who you say and believe that you are. Perhaps there’s a disconnect in your internal value system which needs to be realigned.
Life is full of unexpected moments. It is in these moments that our true character is demonstrated. Until now you may not have understood how a belief of unworthiness can be manifested as behaviour. Going forward, endeavour to adopt one behaviour that honours who you say you are, and demonstrates that you are important and worthy of the best that life has for you
