Success, what does it mean to you and how
can it be applied in what many may describe as a losing battle?
In a time
and age where any glimmer of hope for a positive outcome in our day to day lives
appears to be diminishing by the hour, I feel it necessary to present a counter
argument that if embraced may allow those prepared to come out of their comfort
zone the opportunity to embrace a modicum of success.
So, let me
start with an analogy. Imagine an elastic band, whilst static there is an
element of stretch yet to be realised.
Now when an elastic band is placed under tension it becomes elongated and its shape will
change. It can now serve a new purpose and so can you.
Depending on
how much tension is applied will ultimately determine the trajectory when
released. To bring it all into context let's apply it to where we find ourselves
in these pandemic times. With a constantly changing landscape and bombardment of
mixed information some of you may be feeling deflated and a little overwhelmed.
With the
announcement of another lockdown you might be wondering how you’re going to
cope. Here’s the good news if you’re reading this post it means that you’ve
already successfully been through one lockdown. You’ve been stretched and you’ve
come out the other side.
It’s time to
set your focus on a positive outcome, one which is conducive to your greater
good. In the words of the late great Robert Nestor Marley “Emancipate
yourself from mental slavery, none but ourselves can free our minds.” It's time
to change and the secret of change is to focus all of your energy not on
fighting the old, but on building the new.
The success,
the change that you seek may not be pleasant to start with, but change is
constant. Only when you change will you grow and that’s when you get to see a
world and opportunities you never knew.
